Kath & Kim

The two-night special begins on Sunday, 20 November, on Seven and 7plus

Kath & Kim are back to celebrate 20 years of being classy with a two-night television event, starting Sunday, 20 November, on Seven and 7plus, from 7.00pm

Jane Turner (Kath) and Gina Riley (Kim) return as Australia’s favourite hornbags from 4 Lagoon Court, Fountain Lakes in Kath & Kim: Our Effluent Life.

The two-night special features freshly minted scenes with Kath, Kim, Sharon, Kel, Bretty, Marion, Prue and Trude, as well as some never-before-seen moments and too many bloopers and blunders to count on a washing glove-covered hand.

Joining them on the “roide of their loives” are Kylie Minogue, Michael Bublé, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Carson Kressley, Eric Bana, Stephen K. Amos, Matt Lucas, Mick Molloy, Stephen Page, Tony Martin, Richard E. Grant, Barry Humphries and a former Prime Minister.

This first part of the 20-year celebration will features a special tribute to Shane Warne, laugh-out-loud highlights from events such as the Logies and the AFL Grand Final, as well as an 18-year-old Chris Hemsworth pashing on Kim.

The second night of the special will see the foxy ladies joined by a myriad of friends and stars to take a look deep inside the nooks and unexplored crannies of the show in Kath & Kim: 20 Preposterous Years.

Along the way, there will be more rarely-seen vision and goofs from the archives and hilarious behind-the-scenes highlights, dug out from more than 1,000 tapes and 240 shoot days.

The comedy has enjoyed a resurgence in the “good rooms” of younger generations of Australians thanks to Netflix in 2019, and a renaissance among those who viewed the show when it premiered weekly on ABC and then later on Seven.

Kath & Kim: Is this really the end?

Executive producer Rick McKenna previously said: “It’s fascinating and delightful to see audiences around the world still loving the show after 20 years. It was great fun getting the team back together, plenty of laughs all around, which we look forward to sharing very soon.”

Seven chief content officer of entertainment programming, Angus Ross, said: “Since I was a young lad, I’ve admired the elegance and poise of Kath Day-Knight – and her clowning glory.

“In fact, it’s safe to say she was my first crush. From high couture to yoga, Kath & Kim have had an immeasurable impact on the world. While I still find it difficult to look Kath in the eyes without blushing, it is an honour to be able to reunite them with their adoring fans.”
