Summer TV Ratings January 16, 2022: Seven wins big as Australia dominates the Ashes

In the total TV ratings, the fourth Ashes Test dominated the results with the top three non-news slots ranging between 1.12m and 1.56m viewers.

The top entertainment program was I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!  which had 1.038m after increasing on its overnight ratings by 19%.

Seven enjoyed a gangbuster result in its final day of coverage of the Ashes series as another England collapse brought an end to the series in Hobart. The broadcaster had a primary channel share of 27.4% which was over 13 points better than its closet competition in Nine. Seven also had the top network share with 36.3% with a healthy multichannel share of 5.7% coming from 7mate which aired the NFL playoffs. The top session for the cricket was session two which brought in 881,000 viewers.

On the eve of the Australian Open, Nine put out a prime time lineup led by 60 Minutes (406,000) and RBT (276,000).

10 continues to benefit from being the only commercial network airing a prime time entertainment franchise as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was once again the top entertainment program. The show averaged 569,000 while 537,000 tuned in for the elimination of Davina Rankin.

On the ABC, a repeat of Quoll Farm had 257,000 viewers before a repeat of Vera had 325,000 viewers.
