“We look forward to working with the talented teams at both newspapers to continue delivering high-quality content to our audiences in the South West.”

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has expanded its support throughout the Margeret River Region, acquiring the Augusta-Margaret River Mail and Busselton-Dunsborough Mail newspapers.

The acquisition is part of SEN’s commitment to supporting the local community and building on its presence in the region. SEN currently operates SEN Spirit Southwest 621am and a soon-to-be-launched station based in Margaret River.

“We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of these two important newspapers in a region where we continue to expand and play a key role in news delivery,” said Craig Hutchison, CEO of Sports Entertainment Network.

“When we heard the news that the papers were likely closing, we couldn’t let that happen. Not only will this acquisition allow us to strengthen our local presence, but importantly it will save jobs and allow us to give back to the region.”

“We look forward to working with the talented teams at both newspapers to continue delivering high-quality content to our audiences in the South West.”

The acquisition is effective immediately, ensuring the continuation of the weekly publications.

This month, SEN Cricket also announced exclusive commercial audio rights for the upcoming Ashes series between England and Australia.

Led by Adam Collins, SEN will have a commentary team live on the ground in England to call every ball of the match-up. The series is billed as a battle between Brendon McCullum’s “Baz Ball” and a Pat Cummins led Australian team searching for a first Ashes win on English soil since 2001.

Hutchison said: “It is an honour for the entire SEN Cricket team to call the Ashes. We’ve travelled with the Australian team to series in Pakistan and India and are committed to bringing cricket fans the best coverage live in venues and across our station, SEN app and social channels.”
