From Monday September 27 Kane Cornes and Matthew Lloyd hosting breakfast

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has revealed the on-air talent for the 2021 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio annual pop-up station.

The reveal came at a launch event held this week. The biggest transfer deal uncovered was a new sponsor for the radio station. In previous years sponsors have included NAB and more recently Telstra. This year the naming rights partner is Continental Tyres.

Discussing the 2021 version of AFL Trade Radio at the launch event were returning AFL Trade Radio hosts Matthew Lloyd and Stephen ‘SOS’ Silvagni, who were also joined by AFL.com.au journalist Mitch Cleary.

Cleary himself is also part of a new trade deal. He is soon to depart AFL Media for a role at Seven Melbourne.

From Monday 27 September footy fans can live stream AFL Trade Radio on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App from 7am –7pm each day.

Trade Radio will run for three weeks until October 13 when the trade period is complete.

The launch event included plenty of discussion and speculation around the major trades that will come out of the 2021 AFL season.

Matthew Lloyd believes Western Bulldog forward Mitch Wallis could find a great home at Gold Coast if he looked for a move in the trade period.

According to Lloyd, 28-year-old Mitch Wallis has been on the periphery for most of the 2021 season, he has played just six senior games for the Bulldogs after being appointed vice-captain in the pre-season.

“I know they (Gold Coast) get spoken about a lot in this space … I reckon he (Wallis) would be amazing for them in terms of the character he brings,” Lloyd told AFL Trade Radio.

“He’s the type of guy that you would say, ‘come and play with us for a couple of years’ and then could you keep him on for good?

“Last year he was super smart the way he used his body and just didn’t miss (in front of goal),” the Essendon great said.

“He’s also an unbelievable person so you’re bringing in a high-end character. He was vice-captain this year for a reason but fell out at the Western Bulldogs.”

AFL Trade Radio Co-host and former player manager at Carlton Stephen Silvagni also spoke for the first time since his departure from the club. He mentioned underperforming Sam Petrevski who has asked to be traded to the West Coast Eagles.

Stephen Silvagni was the one who drafted Sam Petrevski to Carlton as a top 10 draft pick in 2016.

On Petrevski, Silvagni believes the club has played him out of position since 2019.

Silvagni said: “I think at his best (Petrevski) is a really good player. He certainly hasn’t played at his best over the last 12 to 24 months. Who’s responsible for that? Ultimately, it’s the player, but I certainly think he’s been played out of position.

“Whoever gets him, I think they’ve got a player they can really work with, but I’m really unsure what he’s worth. I’d play him half-forward and midfield.”
