It seems that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has learned a few things in her time in the public eye.
After, as she called it last week, “a decade of bullying”, she’s apparently become more savvy about who can have access to her.
So when Meghan attended a ‘retreat’, held by company Besties during her Australian tour last week, where she was the keynote speaker, her people would have been on top of the small list of attendees who paid up to $3000 to be there.
(You would have heard of Besties in the news recently – it was founded by Jackie O’Henderson and her manager Gemma O’Neill.)
According to a social media post, it seems that organisers suddenly realised there was a journalist on the guest list – and they were having none of it.
Posting about what she says happened, the journalist, who is also a mum of five, and co-founder of Run to the Sun fashion store, is seen dancing by a pool, and performing a cheers to camera.
Text over the video claims she was told at the retreat: “It has been brought to our attention that you are a journalist, so we are removing you from the event because Meghan’s people want this to be a media free event.”
The apparently ousted journo, whom Mediaweek reached out to and hadn’t heard back from at the time of publishing, added in the caption, “It’s true they kicked me off the Besties event and Meghan Markle missed out on meeting me!
“It’s true I am a journalist, but I’m also a mum of five, British and a small biz owner @runtothesunstore – what’s more, I was attending with my actual bestie for a weekend of inspiration and networking.
“And I’d already packed my outfits!
“For an event that promotes women supporting women it felt a little off brand.
“I even suggested I sign an NDA but nope.”
She finally adds, “Her loss.”

Journalist apparently ousted from Besties event
The Besties event, called Her Best Life retreat, was held as part of the Duchess’s tour of Australia with husband Prince Harry in mid- April.
The former royal couple drew huge crowds at all of their official events. There was much interest in the retreat, especially about the cost, how much Meghan would be involved, and whether host O’Neill would invite her best friend Henderson to participate.
As it turns out, Meghan reportedly disappointed attendees with her ‘brief’ two-hour appearance, and Henderson was at the event and introduced guest speaker Dr Justine Corry.
