Michael Voss will join Fox Footy’s Thursday Night Footy panel from Round 16, the network announced on 21 June 2026, marking a return to the broadcaster for the three-time premiership player and Brownlow Medallist following his departure from AFL coaching.
Voss steps into the commentary role after a month away from the game’s weekly demands. He joins an existing panel that includes Sarah Jones, Jason Dunstall, Leigh Montagna, David King, Mark Howard, Matt Hill, and Dwayne Russell.
A respected football voice
The former Brisbane Lions captain brings a playing career that spanned three premierships, five All-Australian selections, and a Brownlow Medal.
More recently, Voss served as senior coach of the Melbourne Demons before leaving the role in 2024.
“I’ve worked closely with many of the Fox Footy team over the journey,” Voss said. “It’s always been a professional and insightful approach, and gives something unique to people watching the game.
“The conversation is already so strong with the talent that is there, so I hope to complement the team where needed. I don’t think I have anyone traded in the first few weeks, but people will get my honesty with hopefully some perspective and insight.”
Fox Sports welcomes him back
Fox Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley said the appointment was a welcome return for a familiar face.
“We are delighted to welcome back Michael Voss, who has long felt a part of the Fox Footy family,” Crawley said.
“He is a brilliant expert commentator, and people we trust, like Jonathan Brown, have given us an insight into Vossy’s champion qualities, saying he was the best of his era. So good to have him back on the panels and in the commentary box.”
Voss makes his debut with the network from Round 16, with coverage kicking off at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 26 June, with Brisbane Lions v Sydney Swans live from the Gabba, broadcast on Fox Footy and available on Kayo Sports.
