Phil Shearer joins as executive creative director, with Christy Peacock as senior national creative resource

CHEP has announced a new-look leadership team in its Brisbane office as part of its continued investment in the state.

Joining CHEP managing partner Christine Gannon and executive strategy director Katie Peacock, is Phil Shearer as executive creative director.

Justin Hind, CHEP’S CEO, said: “Brisbane, and the broader Queensland market, is not only an incredibly important market for our business but for the success of our nation. To make sure we’re capitalising on the opportunity in the state, we need the very best senior people on the ground, and in Christine, Katie, and Phil, we’ve found the very best.”

In his new role, Shearer will lead CHEP’s creative output across its Brisbane office, supported by Christy Peacock as senior national creative resource.

Shearer brings with him a mix of above-the-line, digital and social experience, perfectly suited to driving growth in the new economy.

Shearer’s work on Jim Beam has been awarded a Cannes Lion Integrated Grand Prix, while his work during his time at R/GA was awarded at creative shows around the globe.

As ECD at We Are Social, he led the agency’s creative output and took it from being a little known agency to a double-Webby winning, Shorty Large Agency Of the Year, whilst driving the creative department’s growth from four people to a team of twenty.

Gannon said: “We are committed to building a top-tier offering in the Brisbane market and our flexible work environment post-COVID enables unprecedented opportunities to work with world-class talent in new ways.

“Case in point is our highly successful partnership with Christy Peacock who has been working with CHEP for over a year as creative lead, helping drive the hugely effective reinvention of the Michael Hill brand.”

In his 25-year career, Christy has worked all around the globe, from the UK to North America, New Zealand and now Brisbane, which he now calls home. His career has seen him lead creative for Cadbury, Nike, Coke, Kraft, The Iconic and more.

Shearer said: “I am excited to be joining an agency that is built from the ground up to thrive in the New Economy and to partner with an Art Director of Christy’s class.

“I’ve been challenged to build out a world-class creative offering in Brisbane that will further bolster an already impressive national offering.

“It’s even more exciting that I’ve been given a license to build out a creative team that has only one criteria – make sure the talent we hire is awesome, then work out how we make it work.

“In my experience ambitious clients want to work with the best people and I’m going to make sure that is what they get when they work with CHEP in Brisbane,” Shearer added.
