BuzzFeed Australia appoints Nathan Willbourn-Trevett as head of region, APAC

BuzzFeed Australia has announced the appointment of Nathan Willbourn-Trevett as head of region for APAC, leading the ad sales team throughout the region. 

Willbourn-Trevett was previously the agency lead across Australia and New Zealand for TikTok, then prior to that at Playground XYZ, Vevo and Yahoo.

The new head of region will be working in partnership with director of content, Julia Willing and director of video, Evelyn Bevans to deliver innovative and fresh branded content across BuzzFeed Inc.’s much-loved brands: BuzzFeed Entertainment, Tasty, Bring Me and Bloom.

Josh Fromson, senior vice president of international sales at BuzzFeed, Inc. said: “Nathan is a proven, respected leader and brings with him a wealth of talent, relationships and experience. We are excited for him to be working with our incredibly talented BuzzFeed Australia team.”

Willbourn-Trevett said of his appointment: ‘To be a part of the number one Gen-Z and Millennial platform globally was an opportunity I could not turn down.

“Working with such a talented team to create and deliver content around the biggest passion points of Australia was a major factor in making the move and I can’t wait to start,” he added.

BuzzFeed Australia has recently launched branded campaigns with Schweppes, Ayam and Eco flow. The sales team were runners up in Jack Daniels’ recent Open Brief and took home the audience vote and Best Collaborator award.

Tasty has a full product range of cookware available in all Big W stores across the country, featuring Tasty’s signature colourful designs which make cooking more fun.

BuzzFeed also recently released its first-ever feature film, Book of Love, in Australia from its Studio team.

The film featured romantic comedy stars Sam Claflin (Peaky Blinders, Enola Holmes) and Verónica Echegui (Fortitude). Two further films, My Fake Boyfriend and 1Up, will be released this winter on Amazon Prime. 

Willbourn-Trevett will start in mid-May and report to Fromson.
