Box Office: The Paw Patrol pups leap into action and into the top five

This week the Australian box office made $2.76 million, down 8% from last week’s $3 million.

Entering the top five this week is Paw Patrol: The Movie. Based on the children’s television series Paw Patrol, the film sees the heroic pups kick into gear to save the day when their arch-nemesis, Humdinger, starts wreaking havoc on Adventure City.

Dropping out of the top five for a second time is Disney’s Jungle Cruise. In its eighth week of release, the film drops to seventh on the Box Office list. It’s had an impressive run, hand has made a total of $3.75 million so far.

#1, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, $1.15 million

The 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the only film this week to crack the million mark. It averaged an impressive $4,039 across 284 screens. This brings it to a total of $5.56 million.

#2, Free Guy, $473,892

With a steep drop from first to second place this week, Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy has stayed steady this week. Averaging $2,135 across 222 screens, the film has made a total of $5.79 million.

#3, Paw Patrol: The Movie, $235,097

As Paw Patrol joins forces with a savvy dachshund to save the citizens of Adventure City, the film averaged $1,359 across 173 screens.

#4, Respect, $120,402

A biographical drama based on the life of American singer Aretha Franklin, this week the story of the Queen of Soul averaged $848 across 142 screens. It has made a total of $1.33 million.

#5, The Suicide Squad, $119,872

Dropping to fifth in its seventh week of release, The Suicide Squad has made a total of $5.28 million. This week it averaged $944 across 127 screens.
