Box Office: The Batman holds #1, two non-english films crack the top five

This weekend the Australian box office made $9.54 million, down 22% from last weekend’s $12.27 million.

In the third week of release for The Batman, it’s still the main driver of revenue for the box office, still pulling over $4 million in. This time the title role is being taken on by Robert Pattinson

Debuting into the top five this week are Dog and Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie.

Dog, starring Channing Tatum (three Belgian Malinois dogs named Lana, Britta, and Zuza who play Lulu) follows Army Ranger Briggs who is tasked with escorting the dog of his fallen commander to the funeral.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie is a Japanese language film which is based on the Manga series Jujutsu Kaisen 0. 

Also entering the top five is The Kashmir Files, which has made a huge leap from #13 last week to #5 this week.

Dropping out of the top five this week are Radhe Shyam, Death on the Nile, and Belfast.

#1, The Batman, $4.15 million

Far and away the winner of the box office this weekend, The Batman averaged $6,972 over 595 screens. The return of The Caped Crusader has pulled in a total of $29.33 million in its third week.

#2, Dog, $1.30 million

Marking Channing Tatum’s directorial debut, Dog averaged $3,797 over 343 screens on debut. 

#3, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, $929,091

Based on the Manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie pulled in a huge average over a smaller number of screens – $6,636 over 140 screens.

#4, Uncharted, $857,832

Based on the popular video game series that was inspired by Indiana Jones and other classic adventure films, Uncharted averaged $2,451 over 350 screens this week. In its fifth week, it has now grossed $16.54 million.

#5, The Kashmir Files, $532,367

Jumping from #13 last week to #5 this week, The Kashmir Files is an Indian Hindi-language film, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. Like Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, The Kashmir Files pulled a huge average (more than The Batman) over a small number of screens. This week it averaged $9,679 over 55 screens.
