• The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber stay at #1 for fourth week

Singles

For the fourth consecutive week, Australia’s The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber hold #1 on the ARIA singles chart with their collaboration Stay. In the past week, The Kid Laroi hit #1 on the Billboard 200 in the US with fromer ARIA #1, F*ck Love. He becomes the first Australian solo act to top that chart since Sia debuted at #1 in July 2014 with 1000 Forms of Fear.

Debuting at #1 on the albums chart with second album, Happier Than Ever, American star Billie Eilish scores five debuts in this week’s Top 50. The highest debut is with the album’s title track at #6. It’s joined by Getting Older at #35, Oxytocin at #38, Billie Bossa Nova at #40 and I Didn’t Change My Number at #45. NDA and Lost Cause have re-entered the chart at #36 and #46, respectively.

A week on from debuting at #34, Sleepy Hallow’s 2055 jumps up 21 spots to #13. A new remix of the track was released recently featuring New Jersey rapper Coi Leray.

Melbourne-based DJ/producer Jolyon Petch makes his top 50 debut with his reimagining of Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams at #28. The original Dreams, which became a viral sensation in 2020 thanks to TikTok, currently sits at #37.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s Silk Sonic score their second ARIA top 50 entry with Skate. Like debut single Leave The Door Open, which hit #10 in March, the new track comes from their pair’s debut album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, which has a TBA release date.

At #49, Melbourne’s Shouse break the top 50 with Love Tonight. Recorded in a Brunswick warehouse, Love Tonight has been adopted as the unofficial reopening anthem for European countries coming out of long Covid lockdowns.

This week marks the 30th week in the top 50 for both Save Your Tears by The Weeknd and Drivers License by Olivia Rodrigo.

Albums

Billie Eilish takes out her second ARIA #1 album as she debuts in the top spot with Happier Than Ever. Eilish’s second studio album is the follow-up to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? which hit #1 in April 2019 and spent eight weeks at the top – and has been in the charts for 123 weeks since. It also topped the 2019 ARIA End Of Year albums chart.

Five singles from Happier Than Ever have charted prior to this week: My Future, Therefore I Am, Your Power, Lost Cause and NDA. Five more tracks have hit the singles chart this week including the album’s title track, Getting Older, Oxytocin, Billie Bossa Nova and I Didn’t Change My Number.

The legendary vault of Prince gets cracked open again to release Welcome 2 America coming in at #5. Recorded in 2010 by the late, great singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer but shelved before its planned release, it’s the first complete previously unreleased Prince studio album to come out posthumously. Previous posthumous releases to chart include Piano & A Microphone 1983 which hit #33 in October 2018, and Originals which hit #18 in July 2019. It becomes the first Prince studio album to hit the top ten since Emancipation came in at #8 in December 1996. Prince last appeared in the top ten with the compilations The Very Best Of at #2 and Ultimate at #6 both in May 2016, following his passing in April 2016.

The Wolfe Brothers take out their third top ten entry as they debut at #6 with Kids On Cassette. The Tasmanian country rock duo’s fifth album is the follow-up to Country Heart and becomes their highest albums chart peak. They first hit the top ten with This Crazy Life at #10 in June 2016.

American rapper Isaiah Rashad makes his ARIA top 50 debut at #32 with The House Is Burning. The third album from the Tennessee artist comes five years on from 2016’s The Sun’s Tirade. The House Is Burning features Lil Uzi Vert, SZA, Jay Rock and more.

This week is week number 200 in the charts for Curtain Call: The Hits by Eminem.
