ARIA Charts: Cench and Dave sprint to the top of the Singles Chart

Foo Fighters score their ninth #1 album

American rock legends the Foo Fighters and UK rappers Dave and Central Cee take over the charts this week, debuting at #1 on the ARIA Albums and Singles Charts respectively, while Brisbane trio DZ Deathrays land their third top 10 album. Dave and Central Cee dethrone the record-breaking run by country superstar Morgan Wallen with their debut at #1 this week.

DZ Deathrays return with R.I.F.F., new at #8, marking their fifth top 50 album. They have previously broken the top 10 with Bloody Lovely, which peaked at #4 in 2018, and Positive Rising: Part 2, which also landed at #4 in 2021.

At #1 this week on the albums chart, The Foo Fighters’ But Here We Are marks the band’s first album since the passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March last year. It’s their 11th studio album and ninth chart-topper in Australia following One By One in 2002, In Your Honor in 2005, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007, Greatest Hits in 2009, Wasting Light in 2011, Sonic Highways in 2014, Concrete And Gold in 2017 and Medicine At Midnight in 2021.

Snapping at their heels are Stray Kids, who debut at #2 with 5-Star. It’s the South Korean boy band’s third charted release here: Noeasy hit #14 in 2021 and the EP Maxident peaked at #4 in 2022.

Also new this week is Metro Boomin Presents Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse by Metro Boomin. Arriving at #3, the soundtrack is for the new animated film which has already passed the $200 million dollar mark at the global box office. The soundtrack includes guest appearances from Swae Lee, Future, Nas, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, ASAP Rocky, James Blake and 2 Chainz

Storming to #1 in its first week on the ARIA Singles Chart is Sprinter, the first collaboration by Dave and Central Cee (it’s also on track to top the UK chart). Dave reached #8 last year with Starlight, while Central Cee’s biggest hit here until now was Doja, which peaked at #3 last year.

Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night from the Barbie movie is on the move, climbing from #22 to #14 to become her 12th top 20 hit in Australia. Her biggest hit here is Cold Heart, with Elton John and PNAU, which spent 10 weeks at #1 in 2021-22.

Madonna returns to the top 30 for the first time in 11 years as Popular by The Weekend, Playboi Carti and Madonna debuts at #24. Madonna was last in the top 30 in 2012, when Give Me All Your Luvin’ with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A peaked at #25.
