ARIA Charts: Adele breaks The Kid Laroi’s streak, two major reissues hit top 10

• Coldplay score their seventh #1 album

Returning with Easy On Me, her first new music in five years, British pop superstar Adele breaks the 14-week streak of The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s Stay to take out her third #1 in the ARIA singles chart. The first single released from the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming fourth album, 30, is her first appearance on the singles chart since Water Under The Bridge in March 2017. She’s previously hit #1 with Someone Like You in 2011 and Hello in 2015. 30 is released on November 19.

Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep have re-entered the chart this week at #40 and #43, respectively, with Rolling In The Deep scoring its 50th week in the top 50.

Having been bumped down to third on the chart, the highest ranked Australian single this week is previously reigning Stay by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber at #3. However, coming in second is Elton John and Dua Lipa with Cold Heart (PNAU Remix). While Dua Lipa and Elton John both come from England, the track is remixed by Aussie electro-dance trio PNAU.

After debuting at #28 last week, Justin Bieber jumps up eleven spots to hit #17 with Ghost. It’s the tenth track to chart from the Canadian star’s album Justice which topped the album chart in March this year after Holy, Lonely, Anyone, Hold On, As I Am, Off My Face, Unstable, 2 Much, and Peaches.

In its 22nd week in the top 50, Vance Joy’s Missing Piece moves up three spots at #20. This week, the Melbourne singer-songwriter was nominated for five ARIA Awards for the track, including Best Artist, Song Of The Year, and Best Pop Release.

Blackpink member Lisa climbs up 17 spots to #32 with Money. The first release outside of the K-pop group for the Thai rapper and singer, debuted at #49 last week. Money is the b-side single to official debut solo single LALISA, but has caught people’s attention after placing on Spotify’s influential Today’s Top Hits playlist.

Releasing Music Of The Spheres, Coldplay claim their seventh #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The follow-up to 2019’s chart topper Everyday Life is the British band’s ninth studio album and includes the singles Higher Power and My Universe, which is a collaboration with K-pop superstars BTS. Music Of The Spheres also features contributions from Selena Gomez and producer Max Martin, among others. Coldplay have also scored #1 albums in Australia with 2002’s A Rush Of Blood To The Head, 2005’s X&Y, 2008’s Viva La Vida, 2011’s Mylo Xyloto (which turned 10 yesterday), and 2014’s Ghost Stories.

Let It Be, the legendary final studio album released by The Beatles, gets re-released to mark its 50th anniversary, albeit a year late. This reissue’s entry on the chart continues the run of top tens by 50th anniversary editions by the Fab Four that’s also included Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band which hit #5 in 2017, The Beatles (aka The White Album) which hit #10 in 2018, and Abbey Road which hit #2 in 2019.

The highest ranking Australian album this week comes from six-time ARIA Award nominee Baker Boy who makes his ARIA top 50 debut at #3 with Gela. The Yolngu rapper’s long-awaited debut album includes performances by JessB, G Flip, Jerome Farah, Thando, Yirrmal, Lara Andallo, and Uncle Jack Charles

Kylie Minogue’s iconic 2001 album Fever receives the reissue treatment on white vinyl to celebrate its 20th anniversary, bringing the album back up to #6. The ARIA Hall Of Fame member’s second #1 album in Australia spent five weeks in the top spot. It produced the hits Can’t Get You Out of My Head, In Your Eyes, Love at First Sight, and Come into My WorldFever and its singles earned Minogue five ARIA Awards in 2002 and has been accredited 7x Platinum in Australia.

Frontman of Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band, Wil Wagner has released the solo album Live From A Beach House In The Rain. Despite being a Bandcamp only release, the album has hit #14.

Mac Miller‘s 2014 mixtape Faces has been reissued and made available on streaming services. Coming in at #16, it’s another posthumous charting for Miller who passed away on September 7th, 2018.

With Easy On Me hitting #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, Adele has also made an impact on the albums chart. Her last album, 25, has climbed ten spots to hit #8. Meanwhile, second album 21 is up 13 to #11 and her debut album 19 has re-entered the Top 50 at #41.
