This will be the Sunshine State’s first time hosting the Awards

The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) has announced that the 2024 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group will be held on Saturday February 10, with the AACTA Industry Awards to be held on Thursday February 8, at HOTA, Home of the Arts on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

This will be the Sunshine State’s first time hosting the Awards. The decision to bring the AACTA Awards to the Gold Coast underscores the city’s growing reputation as a hub for creative excellence and filmmaking in Australia.

The AACTA Awards will be broadcast nationally on 10 and 10 Play and encored on Fox Docos on Foxtel. It will also be available to stream on demand via Foxtel, BINGE and AACTA TV.

AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said, “It’s been an exciting year for the Australian screen industry with an abundance of original and innovative productions growing loyal fanbases here and increasingly engaging massive audiences overseas.

“As we approach the next AACTA Awards, the excitement is palpable. The Australian Academy look forward to bringing our industry together on the sunny Gold Coast as we celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our filmmakers, storytellers, and screen practitioners.”

Amanda Laing, chief commercial and content officer at Foxtel Group said, “Queensland is an industry hot bed for creativity and production, so we’re thrilled to see the AACTA Awards and Festival move to the heart of the action on the Gold Coast and take place during the global awards season in February 2024.

“We’re pleased to once again be the presenting partner of this important event to celebrate the world-class content being produced by our creative industry. The AACTA Awards will be sparkling brighter than ever next year on the Gold Coast and the Home of the Arts.”

Queensland tourism minister Stirling Hinchliffe said “It’s lights, camera, action with AACTAs primed to dial up the Gold Coast’s glamour and screen credentials on the world stage,” Mr Hinchliffe said.

“The AACTAs recognise and celebrate the Queensland screen industry’s international reputation as a leading producer of film and television content.

“By bringing the industry together, the AACTAs put Queensland screen professionals in the box seat to new production partnerships and blockbuster opportunities.

“Having the stars of screen on the Gold Coast telling social media followers about their world-class Queensland visitor experience will be a wonderful endorsement.

“The AACTAs are terrific news for Queensland’s screen industry and for building tourism back better as a global destination of choice.”

Tickets will go on sale for the 2024 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group and festival events in November, in line with the announcement of the full program of activity.

The nominees for the 2024 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group will be announced in early December.
