2016 Logie Awards dates announced

With new categories announced and streaming programs now eligible, the Logies have set a date and you can start voting next week

TV Week have announced that the 58th TV WEEK Logie Awards 2016 will take place on Sunday 8 May 2016 at Crown Entertainment Complex’s Palladium Room in Melbourne, with the telecast on Nine.

The 2016 awards will see a new viewer voted award for Best News Panel OR A Current Affairs Program, with the Best Factual category once again reinstated. The Logies will see two new industry-voted awards introduced for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor and Most Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Reflecting the changes in the television industry, the 58th TV WEEK Logie Awards will be the first to include original Australian program submissions from subscription streaming services.

TV WEEK Publisher Jayne Ferguson said, “We are excited to announce some new awards to the 58th TV WEEK Logie Awards, as we continue to evolve the awards, to give fans the chance to vote on the best shows and biggest stars on TV.

“The introduction of new industry voted awards for acting highlights our commitment to supporting outstanding Australian talent. We are looking forward to another fabulous celebration of everything that makes Australian television special and unique.”

Sally Burleigh of SBPR has been appointed to manage the Public Relations for the awards, with Kerry O’Brien Publicity managing the red carpet and onsite media operations.

 

Public voting for the 58th TV WEEK Logie Awards 2016 will open on Monday, 16 November 2015.  Voters will have until 17 January 2016 to cast their vote.
