Half a million watch Wallabies v France, outrates Saturday Night AFL

The final of a three-match rugby union series between Australia and France moved to Nine’s primary channel last night and was a TV ratings triumph. However the audience wasn’t quite enough to secure Nine a Saturday victory.

TV ratings: Seven

Helping Seven to a Saturday TV ratings win was a strong 6pm news hour with an audience of 1.05m, 100,000 ahead of Nine’s news audience.

The Saturday night AFL was first v seventeenth on the ladder. Melbourne failed to maintain an early lead and the game finished a draw as the form team couldn’t handle the pressure. The AFL audience was 427,000.

Nine

After a big TV ratings Saturday with Wimbledon a week ago, Nine pulled another rabbit out of the hat last night and found half a million metro. The Sydney audience for the Australia v France clash from Brisbane was 225,000 with 139,000 in Brisbane.

10
