Hamish Cargill: “They have all earned their stripes and really stand out as leaders within the business”

XXVI, part of branding agency Principals, has announced a raft of promotions to support the growth of new and existing client projects.

With a team of 13 spread across Melbourne and Sydney, the brand voice consultancy – launched in 2005 – has cornered the market on strategic brand voice and communications development working with companies including NAB, Telstra and Jetstar.

With significant growth in recent years, the promotions enable the team to work autonomously across multiple concurrent projects.

XXVI director Hamish Cargill said: “In an era where ChatGPT can cover most basic copywriting needs, you might ask why we’re building our capability. Interestingly, there is greater demand than ever for our unique blend of strategic thinking and world-class communications skills. AI might have the words, but it’s the human touch that connects brands with audiences.”

The transformation will see Jessica Leech, Alex Moore, Nicholas Ryan and Lisa Wilson all step up to become associate directors while Ben Ashley has been promoted to Senior Writer.

Formerly a freelance writer, Leech joined XXVI following roles at Interbrand and Elmwood. Moore joined XXVI in 2021, moving across from McCann Melbourne where he spent three years as a copywriter.

Ryan has been with XXVI since 2016. Prior to joining the business, he worked as a voiceover artist and writer for ARN. Wilson has been a senior writer with XXVI for more than six years after relocating to Sydney from the UK where she held a series of roles in agencies.

Meanwhile, Ashley came to XXVI last year and brought with him a background in journalism and copywriting.

Cargill added: “These five have all been delivering outstanding work. They have all earned their stripes and really stand out as leaders within the business. By creating these roles, we are recognising their contribution to the business and giving them scope for future growth.”
