WTFN’s Radar appoints John Cameron as digital studios head

John Cameron WTFN Radar

The UK-based executive brings two decades of experience to WTFN’s digital business.

Radar, the digital arm of Australian content company WTFN, has tapped John Cameron as its inaugural head of digital studios.

Based in the UK, Cameron oversees the day-to-day management of the Radar digital network. He will spearhead channel monetisation strategies and oversee content delivery across the 25+ digital channels the business currently manages.

Cameron reports directly to Louisa Emery, general manager of Radar. Emery praised the appointment, noting his extensive experience with high-profile content brands.

A veteran of global formats

“I am delighted to welcome John to Radar and the wider WTFN group,” Emery said. “He has worked for some of the biggest players and highest-profile content brands in our industry and brings valuable specialist knowledge and expertise to the team. Having a senior member of the team based in Europe will also prove a real asset.”

Cameron brings more than 20 years of experience across digital, broadcast, and branded campaigns. His resume features senior production stints at Fremantle, Banijay, and The Football Association.

He previously led creative digital teams for massive UK entertainment franchises, including Britain’s Got Talent, Big Brother, and The X Factor.

During his time as executive digital producer on Britain’s Got Talent, his team doubled the show’s social following in under two years.

He also snagged a Broadcast Digital Award for his innovative social strategy on Big Brother.

Fueling the total distribution strategy

Derek Dyson, chief commercial officer at WTFN, framed the hire as a crucial step for the broader company. It follows the recent appointment of Jamie I, who now leads Fred Media’s APAC sales.

“Our distribution business continues to evolve, and John’s appointment will play a timely and pivotal role as we double down on recent growth and set new strategies for the future,” Dyson said. “I am confident that these two senior appointments will turbo-charge our total distribution strategy and help take our business to the next level.”

Cameron expressed his enthusiasm for joining the rapidly growing digital business that manages popular channels such as Bondi Vet and Real Emergency.

“Radar has quietly grown into one of the biggest and most impressive digital businesses operating today,” Cameron said.

“I am excited to now work with the team, as well as its creator, broadcaster and other IP owner partners, to explore additional opportunities to grow their brands and maximise their potential.”
