Box Office: Uncharted dominates in debut week

This weekend the Australian box office made $10.45 million, a whopping 33% increase from last week, with new film Uncharted sitting at number one.

Uncharted took out the top position on the charts in it’s debut week, grossing over $5 million attracting an audience of avid gamers. This is the first film adaption of the famed video game series.

Jackass forever maintained a spot in the top 5, dropping from second to third place since last week, and Marry Me and Spiderman: No Way Home also both went down one spot.

#1 Uncharted: $5.62 million

Despite the title, this movie definitely deserves a spot on the charts this week. Uncharted is an American action-adventure film based on a popular video game series that was inspired by Indiana Jones and other classic adventure films. Starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, the film averaged $10,307 across 546 screens, grossing a massive $5.62 million in it’s debut week. 

#2 Death on the Nile, $1.01 million

Death on the Nile spent its second week since its debut averaging $2,723 across 373 screens. This is down 38% compared to last week, however, it still brought in a gross profit of over a million dollars. The Walt Disney movie has now made a total of $3.56 million. 

#3: Jackass Forever: $775,892

Jackass Forever hit the screens for the third week in a row, averaging $2,832 across 274 screens, making close to half the gross profit of last week. Costing only $10 million to produce, the final instalment of the Jackass franchise has so far made a profit of $5.7 million. 

#4: Marry Me, $694,716

In its second week since release, the romantic comedy Marry Me saw a 43% decrease in gross profits, averaging $2,220 across 313 screens. The film has now made $2.5 million overall. 

#5: Spider-Man: No Way Home

The popular Marvel film has now been on screens for 10 weeks, and is now only $200,000 away from being the 5th highest grossing film in history, overtaking Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man: No Way Home made an average of $1,986 across 236 screens, bringing the total up to a whopping $79.85 million.
