Total TV Ratings, October 29

The British crime drama The Capture was the star performer in Total TV as the overnight ABC audience climbed by 50% to 480,000.

It didn’t overtake Death in Paradise though as the ABC drama remained the #1 Saturday entertainment property with 630,000. The overnight audience was up 8%

The next biggest movers were 10’s Saturday night US drama double Blue Bloods and then CSI: Vegas. Both dramas surged by 23% with the Total TV audience for each close to 250,000.

Four other shows in the Total TV top 30 for Saturday a week ago to enjoy double-digit growth were Vera (ABC +14% to 234,000), Midsomer Murders (ABC +11% to 215,000), NCIS (10 +18% to 119,000) and Secrets of the Museum (ABC +11% to 183,000).

The Capture also makes the record books for the biggest BVOD audience – 74,000 (61,000 metro and 13,000 regional).

Overnight TV Ratings, November 5

It was hardly adventurous programming, but the audience loved Seven’s Home Alone movie double. Seven managed to rank #1 network, #1 primary channel and #1 multichannel with 7TWO.

Seven News was the day’s #1 program on 645,000 with Border Security on 368,000. The Home Alone double didn’t pull giant crowds, but the metro audience of 213,000 for the first and 137,000 for the sequel helped Seven rank #1.

Nine was a clear second with help from News on 594,000 and A Current Affair on 372,000. Nine also had the most-watched movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on 224,000.

While the return of Doc Martin couldn’t lift ABC out of third spot, the challenges facing Martin and Louisa in the first episode of the last season pulled the biggest entertainment audience of the night – 510,000.

10 wasn’t far ahead of SBS in both primary share and network share. 10 didn’t get a show in the top 20, but SBS did it twice – Secrets of the Royal Palaces on 151,000 and SBS World News on 125,000.

The T20 World Cup attracted an audience of 200,000+ on Fox Cricket who were hopeful Sri Lanka might upset England and help Australia find a way into the final four. England made hard work of chasing a modest total yet it never looked like they would lose, although they only hit the winning runs toward the end of the final over.
