TV Ratings July 22, 2022: Seven claims a strong Friday win

• The Chase and Better Homes and Gardens helped secure Seven’s win

Seven’s The Chase Australia was the top entertainment program in the total TV ratings as the show had an audience of 741,000 and an increase of 3%.

On Nine, Hot Seat was the network’s top entertainment program with 572,000, rising 3%.

On ABC, Agatha Raisin experienced the highest lift on overnight, increasing by 32% to reach 412,000 people.

Seven enjoyed a strong network win last night with a share of 35.2% and a primary channel share of 24.4%. Seven also took out the multichannel win, with 7mate enjoying a 5.7% share.

Seven’s AFL: Friday Night Football was a big force behind the win, reaching 501,000 people and topping each key age demographic. 262,000 Melbournians watched on as Richmond and Fremantle played out the first AFL draw of the season with 7.10 (52). Additionally, The Chase Australia (472,000) and Better Homes and Gardens (378,000) helped Seven secure the win of the night.

On Nine, A Current Affair was one of the most viewed programs of the night, reaching 513,000 viewers. Hot Seat had a viewership of 404,000, while Nine’s NRL coverage which saw the Roosters dominate the Knights 42-12, clocked 229,000 viewers, with 123,000 tuning in from Sydney.

On 10, The Living Room clocked 267,000 views as Dr Chris met some rescue kittens at a new RSPCA adoption centre. The Project reached 240,000 viewers as they talked to the co-producer of Splendour in the Grass about the first day of the festival being cancelled.

On the ABC, Movin’ to the Country had 356,000 viewers as the program took viewers to meet a family who turned their pet’s battle with arthritis into a business.

The top program on SBS was Kensington Palace: Behind Closed Doors, reaching 124,000 people.

STV, July 22

The top program on Foxtel was Fox Footy’s coverage of Richmond v Fremantle which reached 221,000 viewers, while The Knights v Roosters match reached an audience of 200,000. 

On Fox League, Ben Hunt helped secure a win for St George, scoring two tries for a 20-6 win over Manly.

Friday Footy on Fox clocked 112,000 views.
