Seven’s Commonwealth Games day one coverage was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings, bringing in a total audience of 785,000 and an increase of 3%.

The Chase Australia came in second with a total audience of 684,000, rising by 3%.

On ABC, Time experienced the highest lift on overnight, increasing by 56% to reach 303,000 people.

Seven dominated the Friday TV ratings with a 43.5% network share and a 29.3% share on its primary channel. Seven also claimed the multichannel win, with 7mate enjoying a strong 7.8% share.

Seven’s strong win is thanks to a mix of its Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games coverage and Saturday night AFL coverage. Australia picked up two silver and four bronze medals on day eight of the games, as the Hockeyroos made it into the gold medal match.

Commonwealth Games Day Eight Sessions:

Evening: 596,000 (397,000 metro, 199,000 regional)
Night: 521,000 (344,000 metro, 177,000 regional)
Late Night: 465,000 (322,000 metro, 143,000 regional)

The AFL saw 363,000 people tune in to watch the Collingwood Magpies take down the Melbourne Demons to win 15.6(96) to 13.11(89) as the coverage claimed the top spot in the 16-39 age demographic.

On NineA Current Affair was one of the most viewed programs of the night, reaching 497,000 viewers. Hot Seat had a viewership of 354,000, while the NRL, which saw the Eels dominate the Sea Eagles 36-20, clocked 268,000 viewers, with 160,000 tuning in from Sydney.

On 10, 10 News First clocked 257,000 views, while The Living Room reached 263,000 views as Miguel teamed up with Jamie Durie to clean up a school’s veggie patch.

ABC’s Movin’ to the Country reached 283,000 viewers as Craig met entrepreneurs making an ancient Chinese drink.

The top program on SBS was Rebuilding Notre Dame with Lucy Worsley reaching 130,000 people.

STV

Fox Footy topped subscription TV with its coverage of Melbourne v Collingwood. The match reached an audience of 259,000.

Fox League took the next two spots with its coverage of the Sea Eagles v Eels clocking 214,000 views, followed by Storm v Titans with 194,000 views.
