• The Boomers game has been cancelled due to Covid-19

The international basketball action continues on ESPN this weekend, with the Opals tackle the USA.

Saturday July 17 will be a huge morning for Australian fans, with the Australian Opals taking on Team USA.

Kicking off at 4.30am AEST on ESPN, the Opals will begin finalising preparations for the Tokyo Olympics against their formidable rivals.

Originally the Boomers were also meant to play the USA team, but the game has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

“Due to health and safety protocols, the Boomers final match of the exhibition series against Team USA has been cancelled,” Basketball Australia wrote on Twitter.

“The Boomers’ focus turns to their travels to Tokyo.”

Strong contenders for medals in Tokyo, the Opals will hope to steal a page from the Boomers playbook and show they are more than capable of making their own push for Olympic gold.

ESPN will also bring further action from the USA Basketball Exhibition tournament on Monday.

The USA Women’s team meet Nigeria at 7.30am AEST, before the Dream Team hit the court at 11am AEST against Spain, both on ESPN.
