The Australian: The List reveals the 250 wealthiest innovators, developers, philanthropists and techpreneurs

“Keeping up with these key players and uncovering new names is an exciting prospect”

The Australian has announced Gina Rinehart has taken out top spot on its fifth annual edition of The List: Australia’s Richest 250.

The biggest list of Australia’s wealthiest people, reveals the richest innovators, developers, philanthropists and techpreneurs in the country.

The List: Australia’s Richest 250, available in a gloss magazine in The Australian and at theaustralian.com.au celebrates Australian success stories, industry stalwarts and inspiring entrepreneurs.

The Richest 250 shows Australia is a nation of mostly self-made millionaires and billionaires, who, despite rising interest rates, weak consumer sentiment and the threat of a global recession, have grown their combined wealth by 2.2 per cent to $531.96 billion – approximately one third of Australia’s GDP.

The Richest 250 has once again been curated by an experienced advisory panel assembled by The Australian to determine the value of the country’s wealthiest.

The AustralianThe Australian’s business journalist and editor of The List: Australia’s Richest 250, John Stensholt, has overseen the editorial development of the Richest 250, working closely with each rich lister to tell their story.

“While the last few years have been defined by the rise of young technology founders, the biggest movements on the Richest 250 this year have come from the most established industries. Mining, property and retail are back and booming,” Stensholt said.

“Looking at the list, you can see that wealth comes in all shapes and sizes – but if there’s one thing that the rich listers share, it’s an underlying ambition that drives them to be their best.

“Keeping up with these key players and uncovering new names is an exciting prospect and I personally look forward to following their continued growth,” he added.
