Summer TV Ratings December 16, 2021: Day/Night Test pushes Seven to big Thursday win

The Ashes was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings with its third session bringing in 640,000 viewers. This is despite Seven not having the digital streaming rights which meant that it had a 0% increase on its overnight ratings.

The BBL also brought in 388,000 for Seven, as the Adelaide Strikers took on the Melbourne Renegades.

On the ABC, Barrie Cassidy’s One Plus One had 335,000 viewers, an increase of 4% viewers. The episode saw Cassidy speak to Jane Barnes.

On 10, Christmas With the Australian Women’s Weekly then had 264,000 viewers, an increase of 10%.

Overnight TV Ratings, December 16

Seven cruised to an easy win last night with the #1 primary channel (28.1%) and network (37.7%) thanks to its strong return on prime time Test cricket. The only day/night Test of the Ashes series kicked off with a bang as the third session (787,000) was the top-rating program of the night, even outdoing the prime time news bulletins.

On Nine, A Current Affair had 541,000 viewers before Great Getaways took 312,000 viewers to Asia.

On 10, The Project had 154,000 (6:30) and 246,000 (7:00pm) as the show discussed the Omicron outbreak and the effect of booster shots. Then Jamie: Together at Christmas had 207,000 viewers.

On the ABC, Barrie Cassidy’s One Plus One had 227,000 viewers as Cassidy spoke to Rebecca West. A repeat of Joanna Lumley’s Unseen Adventures had 248,000 viewers.
