Stan Event has announced its next pay-per-view bout in Australia will be a showdown between Sonny Bill Williams, a dual rugby international star, and Mark Hunt – an MMA legend.
Taking place at Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena on November 5, SBW v Hunt is exclusive to Stan Event, available for customers to purchase who will not want to miss the promising clash. Presented by Khoder Nasser’s SBW Promotions, the fighters will take each other on over eight three-minute rounds.
Stan director of sport Ben Kimber said: “If there was ever any doubt that cross-code champion Sonny Bill Williams is box office, he blew that away when he launched Stan Event in style by defeating Barry Hall earlier this year.
“Now Sonny will step up again and face one of the country’s most dangerous knockout artists on Stan Event. Mark Hunt has taken on the best in the world and shown the power and determination to finish on top, and now he has a chance to stop a rising boxing superstar in his tracks.”
Sonny Bill Williams enters the ring with an undefeated record under his belt, boasting a 9-0 professional record. Williams is one of only 21 players ever to win two Rugby World Cups (both with the All Blacks) and has also played 123 NRL matches, with two premiership headliners in that count. He will be looking to add to his illustrious sporting career by continuing his undefeated streak in the ring on November 5.
A former UFC heavyweight contender, Hunt is unknown as the ‘Super Samoan’, Hunt has battled in some of UFC, Pride ad K-1s most notable battles. He will be looking to serve Williams his first defeat and add another walk-off knockout to his roster.
SBW v Hunt Pay-Per-View on November 5 will be available for Stan customers to order on Stan Event. Tickets for Ken Rosewall Arena will be available through Ticketek.
