Sky News Australia launches current affairs quiz show Quizzical

The eight-week series will test teams on the week’s biggest stories across politics, world affairs and pop culture.

Sky News Australia will premiere new current affairs quiz show Quizzical on Sunday 17 May at 8:30pm AEST.

The eight-week series will test how closely its teams have followed the week’s major headlines, with questions spanning politics, international affairs and popular culture.

Quizzical will be hosted by quizmaster James Macpherson, with each episode featuring two competing teams led by captains Joe Hildebrand and Lucy Zelić.

Each week, Hildebrand and Zelić will be joined by a guest player as their teams go head-to-head on the stories shaping Australia and the world.

Sky News takes a lighter look at the news cycle

Macpherson said the program would combine news knowledge with entertainment.

Quizzical is going to be fast paced, a lot of fun and informative all at the same time. We’ll find out who’s been following the news of the week as opposed to just making stuff up based on vibes, half-remembered tweets and something their cousin posted on Facebook at 2am,” Macpherson said.

“I’m especially looking forward to seeing everyone’s Sky News favourites in a different setting where they are working together, and against each other, to see who’s most up to date.

“It’s the perfect way for people to unwind on a Sunday night, catching up on the news of the week in a light-hearted, highly entertaining format.”

Quizzical premieres Sunday 17 May at 8:30pm AEST on Sky News Australia.
