‘Who Murdered Marea?’ premieres Wednesday 17 May at 8:00 pm AEST on Sky News Australia

A new true crime documentary hosted by journalist and broadcaster Denham Hitchcock investigates a shocking 20-year-old murder, and pieces together the incredible clues which might finally see the cold case solved.

In Who Murdered Marea?which premieres on Wednesday 17 May at 8:00 pm AEST on Sky News Australia, Hitchcock explores the crime with close family members and senior detectives, unveiling disturbing revelations that have never seen the light of day.

Detectives describe it as the worst murder scene they’ve ever come across. The victim was a 69-year-old mother of three, Marea Yann, from Healesville, Victoria. She was murdered in her own home while alone late at night in September 2003. There was no forced entry and no evidence of a robbery gone wrong.

While initial investigations led to the arrest of one suspect, Marea’s son-in-law, Joseph “James” Unumadu, he was later acquitted following a two-week trial. Marea’s murder went into a cold case vault.

Now, ahead of the twentieth anniversary of Marea’s death, her family and detectives have new hope for a breakthrough as Hitchcock tracks down new witnesses and unearths never-before-seen documents. Will justice finally be served?

Denham Hitchcock said: “Every phone call, every door knock, every tipoff and whisper led me deeper into this story. Not only did I feel deeply for Marea, who could have been anyone’s grandmother, but I could never have guessed where this investigation would lead. Marea’s time is coming.”

Who Murdered Marea? premieres Wednesday 17 May at 8:00 pm AEST on Sky News Australia.
