QMS NZ and Wellington Airport launch new large-format digital billboard

It delivers high-impact exposure on the main arterial route into Wellington’s CBD.

QMS NZ, in partnership with Wellington Airport, has launched a new external digital large-format billboard laid directly outside the airport exit.

It delivers high-impact exposure on the main arterial route into Wellington’s CBD.

Named ‘The WLG’, after Wellington Airport’s IATA code, the 15-metre by 5-metre screen is the first external digital large-format billboard at the airport and is designed to capture the attention of all traffic leaving the terminal toward the city and government precincts.

A first for Wellington Airport’s external OOH offering

The WLG marks a significant expansion of Wellington Airport’s out-of-home inventory, with the site delivering visibility to more than five million domestic and international passengers who travel through the airport each year.

Strategically located on a high-frequency gateway into the capital, the screen is positioned to reach business leaders, government audiences and premium travellers as they depart the airport.

A new high-impact asset for advertisers

QMS NZ director Adam Trevena said the new billboard represents a major opportunity for brands seeking prominence in the Wellington market.

“‘The WLG’ is a game-changer for brands seeking market dominance in the Wellington market. This exclusive, high-impact billboard delivers unparalleled scale over the main route into the capital, guaranteeing attention from influential business leaders and high-net-worth consumers,” Trevena said.

“It represents a powerful new addition to the already extensive QMS NZ Wellington Airport offering.

“For advertisers, ‘The WLG’s’ strategic position makes it the exclusive OOH asset on this pivotal, high-frequency gateway into Wellington. Its massive scale and digital capability allow for high-impact creative to target an extremely attentive, affluent, and captive audience, securing its position as an essential media asset for national and regional brands.”

Strengthening the airport’s commercial environment

Wellington Airport general manager – commercial Richard Dalby said the partnership reflects the airport’s focus on premium infrastructure and customer experience.

“Wellington Airport is committed to enhancing the passenger journey through premium facilities. This strategic site, in partnership with QMS NZ, elevates our advertising offering, provides a visually dynamic environment for our customers, and reinforces our position as a premier location for brands across Aotearoa,” Dalby said.
