With bare hands and basic tools, 12 strangers are tasked with building a 330 metre bridge across a lake over 17 days. But as always, there’s a catch – and the mysterious glowing beacon is the key. Welcome to The Bridge Australia, streaming exclusively from this Friday on Paramount+.

Meeting in the remote wilds of Tasmania to take on such a task are Aussies from all walks of life.

Hailing from Victoria is author Allira, marketing consultant Georgina, social media coordinator Rhiannon, and paramedic Steve.

Carpenter Bardie, advertising executive Elliot, heavy machinery operator Jessi and dance choreographer Tiana all fly the flag for NSW.

From the heat of Queensland to the cold of Tasmania is mechanic Dean, model Maddie, sales director Madison, bush poet Mark and life coach Tony.

And The Bridge Australia wouldn’t be complete with local Tasmanian adventurer Justin.

Daniel Monaghan, senior vice president, content and programming, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand, said: “The Bridge is a fantastic series that we are thrilled to bring to the Australian market.

“Teaming up with Endemol Shine Australia will ensure this is the very definition of event television.”

Endemol Shine Australia CEO, Peter Newman, said: “Australians have a huge appetite for adventure and social game, and we couldn’t be more delighted to serve up this ground-breaking format.

The Bridge is a physical and mental ordeal with an electrifying social experiment at its core … and an endgame unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. If there’s one show to binge on in 2022, it’s The Bridge.”

The Bridge Australia joins a host of entertainment currently streaming on Paramount+, including The Secrets She Keeps, I Love That For You, All Star Shore, Jerry & Marge Go Large, Players, Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber, The Offer, HALO, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, iCarly, 1883, Honor Society, and Five Bedrooms, with 6 Festivals and Tulsa King streaming soon.
