Monster drinks, psychic powers and Tropfest: the unlikely creators dominating Australia’s growth charts

Lucy Ronald: ‘It’s such a great reminder of how diverse the Aussie creator landscape really is.’

An unusual mix of creators dominated Fabulate’s list of Australia’s fastest-growing creators in October, with TikTok account Monster Glass leading the charge after several videos dedicated entirely to Monster energy drinks pulled in up to 3.4 million views last month.

The niche page, which now sits at 45,000 followers, was one of TikTok’s standout performers.

A psychic medium and a film festival ride the views

Another creator seeing rapid audience growth is David the Medium, who Fabulate reports was among the fastest-growing creators on both TikTok (75,000 followers) and Instagram (175,000 followers) in October.

Meanwhile, Tropfest, the world’s largest short-form film festival, has been steadily rebuilding momentum online. Its Instagram account, now at 50,400 followers, has gained traction following the September announcement that the festival will return in 2026.

Lucy Ronald, Head of Strategy and Talent at Fabulate, said October’s results show how unexpected ideas can flourish when creators tap the right audience.

“October’s top creators are such a great reminder of how diverse the Aussie creator landscape really is,” Ronald said.

“When a page dedicated purely to Monster drinks racks up millions of views, it shows the power of niche communities and how even the simplest ideas can take off when they tap into the right audience. For brands, that’s the sweet spot partnering with creators who know how to turn small moments into big impact.”

Ronald added that the rise of personalities like David the Medium and cultural staples like Tropfest highlights how audiences are increasingly using TikTok and Instagram as primary entertainment platforms.

“Creators like David the Medium and even cultural icons like Tropfest show how audiences are increasingly using TikTok and Instagram as their go-to for entertainment and connection. It’s where people go to discover, unwind, and feel part of something – whether that’s spirituality, storytelling or nostalgia.”

How’s Youtube

On YouTube, Desi Johnson continues her strong ascent. Currently training for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan as a bobsledder, Johnson has grown her channel to 148,000 subscribers, with many Shorts videos pulling in millions of views.

She has consistently ranked among Australia’s fastest-growing YouTube creators for several months.

Fishing creator Paul Burt also posted strong growth, surpassing 90,000 subscribers on his channel.

“What’s always fascinating is how differently each platform behaves,” Ronald said.

“On YouTube, audiences are gravitating toward creators like Desi Johnson and Paul Burt – people who share their real lives, passions and pursuits. It’s that authenticity that keeps people coming back.”
