Award-winning drama producer Mimi Butler joins Matchbox Pictures

Matchbox Pictures has signed award-winning drama producer Mimi Butler to join the team in Sydney in a permanent role, working across development and production in the scripted department.

Debbie Lee, Matchbox Pictures’ director of scripted development, said: “Mimi is a fantastic fit for Matchbox Pictures and I’m thrilled that she’ll be starting with us in the new year. Mimi has terrific energy and experience and will bring a distinctive sensibility to our team to further deepen our scripted slate.”

Mimi Butler is an AACTA- and Logie Award-winning Australian drama producer, renowned for her work on the 2013 hit telemovie Paper Giants: Magazine Wars starring Rachel Griffiths and Mandy McElhinney, as well as 2012’s critically acclaimed Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War, produced with John Edwards.

Prior to this, she produced four series of the AFI award-winning action drama series Rush for Network Ten, starring Catherine McClements, Rodger Corser and Samuel Johnson. Butler has also produced for crime documentary series Forensic Investigators (Seven Network), teen drama Blue Water High, and children’s drama Snobs for the Nine Network. She has also worked as a development producer for Cordell Jigsaw, as well as script executive for the Nine Network.
