Media Movers across the industry include:

ABC managing director David Anderson has announced the appointment of Chris Oliver-Taylor to the newly created role of chief content officer.

This position will report to the managing director and be responsible for the new Content division created from the merger of the current Entertainment & Specialist and Regional & Local divisions.

LiSTNR welcomes Clair Weaver who steps into the newly created role of investigations editor. She was a producer at 60 Minutes and investigations editor at 9 News Sydney’s 6 pm bulletin.

ABC News Breakfast has appointed Tyson Shine as executive producer of ABC News Breakfast, after acting in the role for the past year. He was previously the show’s supervising producer and has been with the ABC for over a decade.

Careers with STEM welcomes Charis Palmer as managing editor. She joins Refraction Media from 360info, where she was the Asia Pacific editor.

SCA chief content officer Dave Cameron has announced that after 12 years Steve Mummery will be returning to SCA, joining the Perth Content team in the position of content strategy manager, Perth. 

In his role, Mummery will work in close conjunction with SCA’s content directors, providing advice and guidance on their program and digital strategy, as well as coaching on-air talent and off-air teams.

The Age has announced the commencement of Abbir Dib as a journalist/social media producer. In the role, she will produce social media content and occasionally writes op-eds.

Finder Australia welcomes Aaron McAllister as utilities publisher. He was previously global streaming publisher for the publication.

• Cassandra Green joins Are Media as senior digital writer for ELLE and Marie Claire. She joins after wrapping up as senior features writer and online producer at News Corp’s Body+Soul and Stellar.

Strategic communication firm Six O’Clock Advisory has appointed Jessica Evans as senior advisor following a period of new client wins and growth across the firm.
 
Evans, a former journalist, has more than 12 years of experience across a range of sectors, including government, health and education. She joins Six O’Clock from Charles Darwin University, where she was media and communication manager.

NBN News Central Coast welcomes Josephine Shannon, who begins as a journalist. She has worked with the network as a journalist, covering the 2022 Northern Rivers flood disaster.

Mamamia has welcomed Kate Snow as deputy editor, helping the editorial team and assisting editor Elfy Scott.

ABC Riverina welcomes Monty Jacka as a reporter covering local news. He joins as a journalist from Wagga Wagga’s The Daily Advertiser.

Attivo has announced the appointment of industry veteran Sue Squillace to the newly created role of CEO Media, ANZ.

Effective immediately and based in Sydney, the newly created role will see Squillace develop a multi-dimensional media model across Attivo’s business, utilising existing media capabilities and developing new solutions to accelerate growth.

• Elsie Lange leaves journalism and moves into communications. She begins her new role as a communications officer at Aboriginal Housing Victoria after wrapping up her time at the Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Star Weekly

News Corp Australia has promoted Phillippa Butt to Victorian news director. She will oversee hyperlocal mastheads spread across suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria, working alongside the Herald Sun.

Sky News Australia has promoted Peter Oglos to digital lead from digital news producer.

Samsung Ads ANZ, the advertising division of Samsung Electronics, welcomed two new senior hires – a new head of agency development and a head of business development for Samsung Ads.
 
Richard Wheeler joins as head of agency development ANZ, becoming the driving force in building strategic relationships with agencies and trading desks to help them navigate the evolving CTV landscape.

Blair Hamilford also joins as head of business development for Samsung Ads. In the newly created role, Hamilford’s initial focus will be to explore the connection between retailers, advertisers and network solutions and work closely with partners to achieve their business goals through Samsung Ads products and solutions.

The Sydney Morning Herald has welcomed Angus Dalton as Science Reporter covering topics including weather, health, technology and biodiversity. Dalton recently completed a cadetship with the publication.

Stock & Land appoints Rachel Simmonds as a journalist. In the role, she will produce content for Australian farmers.

3AW Breakfast has promoted Emilia Fuller as senior producer from producer of the program.

The Influence Group and Pollinate have announced the appointment of Shannon Kenna as managing director of both companies’ Canberra offices, effective 4 April.
 
Kenna brings with her a diverse skillset spanning marketing, media relations, research and corporate communications. She will join The Influence Group and Pollinate executive teams.

Jack Lording joins Sky News Australia as an interview producer after wrapping up his time at ausbiz.

• Bertin Huynh, The Guardian Australia’s multimedia journalist, is moving to Birmingham, UK in May 2023. Huynh is looking for reporting jobs but is open to video production and journalism.
 
Joining the Canberra Times as a court reporter is Tim Piccione. He was a graduate from ACM’s regional journalism traineeship program at Wagga Wagga’s Daily Advertiser.

Techday has announced the appointment of Tom Raynel as news editor working across Asia, Australia and New Zealand as part of the publisher’s recent expansion of sites.

Redhill has announced the appointment of Diana Pong as managing director of its Australia operation, effective immediately.
 
Pong will focus on driving local market expertise and cross-market collaboration to devise broader capabilities for our clients in Australia and across the APAC region.

• Virginia Trioli is taking a break from hosting ABC Breakfast to focus on her health and family before returning.

The Guardian Australia welcomes Sarah Martin the chief political correspondent. She rejoins the publication as part of the National Investigations team after returning from maternity leave in November 2023.

• Koroi Hawkins steps into the role of editor of RNZ Pacific, moving up from his role as a journalist,

• William Wain-Williams joins PKN Packaging News and Print 21 as a journalist. He was previously a news writer at the Sydney bureau of Xinhua News Agency.

Mediahub Perth has unveiled new senior leadership as the full-service media agency continues its growth and continued evolution.

Effective immediately, former Mediahub media director Kylie Macey will step into the general manager role overseeing a team of planners, data, analytics and performance specialists.

The NT News and the Centralian Advocate welcome Laura Hooper as a news reporter. She moves from The Southland Times in New Zealand to her new base in Alice Springs.

joins Austroads as a senior communications officer working with Transport Certification Australia. Her new role comes after working at Prime Creative Media as the editor of Quarry Magazine and Roads & Infrastructure Magazine.

Guardian Australia welcomes Paul Karp as chief political correspondent. Based at the Canberra Press Gallery, he takes over from Sarah Martin, who is on maternity leave.
 
The Media Federation of Australia (MFA) board has voted to re-appoint Omnicom Media Group CEO Peter Horgan to a further two-year term as chair, and to appoint Havas Media Group CEO Virginia Hyland as deputy chair.

Non-executive director Megan Brownlow has stepped down from the deputy chair position, but remains on the board.
 
The MFA board also re-appointed Chris O’Keefe, chief operating officer of Match & Wood, as one of two independent media agency board directors following a hotly contested election.

News Corp Australia has promoted Edwina Carr Barraclough as senior manager, ecommerce content and strategy. She will work across news.com.au, Taste, Body+Soul, Kidspot, Escape, Delicious, Vogue and GQ.

Compare the Market has appointed Megan Birot as a senior digital writer and media spokesperson. She recently wrapped up her role as home and lifestyle editor of Canstar.

Mining.com.au has announced the appointment of Aaliyah Rogan. This is her first full-time role as a journalist after finishing her studies.

UM Australia has announced the appointment of Andy Copeland to the newly created role of general manager, Brisbane. 

Copeland joins the Brisbane media agency’s leadership team, reporting directly to Anathea Ruys, CEO UM Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald welcomes Perry Duffin as a crime reporter. He was previously chief court reporter at The Daily Telegraph.

Are Media welcomes Kirsty Thatcher as a digital writer across Marie Claire Australia and ELLE Australia. She was previously a copywriter at Medium Rare Content Agency’s fashion, beauty and prestige division.
