Mamamia is strengthening its commercial footprint in Western Australia, appointing Jessica Steliou as its first-ever Head of Sales for the region.
The appointment marks a milestone for Australia’s largest independent women’s media company, representing its first dedicated local presence in the state.
The newly created role reports directly to Chief Revenue Officer Georgie Nichols and is designed to bolster Mamamia’s partnerships and growth in the WA market.
“With the incredible growth we’ve seen across the Mamamia business, expanding our on-ground presence into Western Australia was a natural next step,” said Nichols.
“WA is an important and dynamic market, and having independent representation there allows us to build even stronger partnerships with our clients.”
Nichols added that Steliou’s appointment reinforces Mamamia’s ongoing focus on connection and outcomes. “Jess is one of the most respected and purpose-driven commercial leaders in the market and her track record speaks for itself,” she said.
“As a 2024 B&T Women in Media Award winner and two-time Media i WA Audio Salesperson of the Year, she brings a deep understanding of clients, audiences and outcomes. We’re thrilled to have her join the Mamamia Commercial Leadership team.”
Steliou’s next chapter
Steliou joins Mamamia after 12 years in media sales, spanning broadcast, print, radio and digital.
Most recently, she served as Agency Account Director at ARN, where she worked closely with agencies and brands across the Perth market.
“I’m delighted to be joining Mamamia as Head of Sales – WA,” Steliou said.
“The opportunity to contribute to a purpose-led business that’s genuinely committed to making the world a better place for women is incredibly meaningful.
“My passion for women’s empowerment and background in media makes this an exciting and natural next step. I’m looking forward to getting out to market and showcasing Mamamia’s incredible assets.”
Building on strong foundations
Mamamia’s WA expansion follows a period of strong national growth across the company’s digital, podcasting and branded content divisions.
The move also signals a shift toward more locally driven commercial relationships, as the publisher continues to deepen its presence outside the east coast markets.
Nichols also acknowledged long-time WA partner Digital Loop for their contribution to Mamamia’s success in the region.
“I’d also like to thank Chris Coufos and the Digital Loop team for their incredible partnership and representation of the Mamamia brand over many years in WA, and wish them every success in the future,” she said.
