John Beohm appointed SBS 2 Channel Manager

SBS have appointed John Beohm as channel manager at SBS 2

John Beohm has been appointed by SBS as their new SBS 2 Channel Manager, within the television and online content division.

In the new role, Beohm will be the editorial and strategic lead for SBS 2, ensuring “the channel continues with its distinctive positioning as the home of adventurous, provocative and diverse content from across the globe for 18-39 year olds, to inspire them to explore and appreciate the value of our multicultural world”.

Currently Beohm serves in the role of senior programming and editorial manager at streaming service Stan, having served there since launch. Beohm has been a visible advocate for Stan, often assisting customers online via the high traffic Whirlpool forums. Prior to his work at Stan, Beohm was a programme manager for BBC Australia and started his career as a programming coordinator at Prime Television. Beohm was also responsible for the now long-dormant Idents.tv blog which catalogued interesting TV idents from around the world.

John will report to Peter Andrews, SBS Head of Network Programming and commences in the role on 22 February.

SBS has appointed John Beohm as SBS 2 Channel Manager in the television and online content division.

John joins SBS from Stan where he is currently Senior Programming and Editorial Manager.

John will become the editorial and strategic lead for SBS 2 ensuring the channel continues with its distinctive positioning as the home of adventurous, provocative and diverse content from across the globe for 18-39 year olds, to inspire them to explore and appreciate the value of our multicultural world.

John will report to Peter Andrews, SBS Head of Network Programming.

John brings to SBS an impressive track record in programming and content strategy with six years at BBC Worldwide Australia with multiple roles including programmer for BBC HD, CBeebies, BBC Knowledge and BBC iPlayer. John joined Stan in 2014 and was responsible for programming and editorial strategy and leading the day-to-day management of the scheduling, operations and social media teams. Prior to that John started his career in 2006 as programming coordinator at Prime Television.
