Instagram launches Australia’s first IGTV film festival

• Partnering with Sydney Film Festival and Vice

Instagram, Sydney Film Festival, and VICE have partnered to create the first IGTV Film Festival. With entries open now, the finalists will have their films screened for the public throughout the Sydney Film Festival in June. The winner will receive an official Sydney Film Festival award, $2,500 worth of film equipment hire from Panavision, and $5,000 prize-money.

Entrants must be under 34 and are encouraged to shoot and submit an innovative vertical film designed for Instagram’s IGTV (up to 10 minutes in length) platform by May 29th.

The IGTV Film Festival’s theme is ‘Future’, and should include a sense of what it is like to live in Australia today, including in the years to come.  The project also celebrates the diversity of Australia, so submissions can come in any language. Entrants will need to upload their film to their IGTV and submit the link at igtvfilmfestival.com.au

A selection of finalists will then be showcased at Sydney Film Festival, which runs 5-16 June, 2019. At a special event on June 11th at the Sydney Film Festival, an industry jury will convene to decide the winner of the IGTV Film Festival, who will receive an official Sydney Film Festival award, $2,500 worth of film equipment hire from Panavision, and $5,000 prize-money.

Throughout the festival, the public are invited to attend the Instagram Lounge at the Sydney Film Festival Hub at Town Hall, where they can view all the finalists’ films and vote for a People’s Choice Award.
