I’m A Celebrity

Plus: The full list of clues

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is returning for its ninth season, premiering on Sunday, April 2 at 7.30 pm, on Channel 10 and 10 Play.

And after two years in the Australian bush, the celebrity contestants head back to South Africa’s Kruger National Park to rough it out in a camp without their creature comforts and only the bare necessities.

Celebrities must compete in various challenges to earn meals and other luxuries, but the ultimate prize is $100,000 which will be donated to their chosen charity.

Narrating the celebrities’ ups, downs, challenges, and tucker trials will be Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown from their lofty treehouse.

So far, the confirmed celebrities heading into the jungle are Woody Whitelaw, Ian “Dicko” Dickson, Domenica Calarco, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, and Debra Lawrance

Of the news, Woody Whitelaw said “There are mixed emotions to be heading into the jungle. I’m obviously excited to be getting a free flight to South Africa and becoming best mates with some cool celebs, but there is also the reality of being away from my girls for an extended period of time.

“I haven’t been away from Rem for over three days since she was born, so I really don’t know how I’m going to handle that.”

Mediaweek spoke to Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown ahead of the show’s premiere for the year, touching on the fact that this will be Brown’s last season, given that he is headed to Channel Seven in July.

For Brown, he will miss “just laughing” and “calling this a job”.

“But what I’ll miss the most? Just turning up for work and not really knowing what what has happened overnight and just getting excited to bring the craziness of that jungle life to the forefront. It’s been a very privileged front row seat to have and something that I’ll always treasure. And obviously standing alongside Julia has been amazing too.”
