• The agency will service UNSW’s domestic and international recruitment

Howatson+Company has been awarded the media account of UNSW Sydney.

The agency was appointed after a competitive tender process to service UNSW’s domestic and international recruitment. The appointment is effective immediately.

Sofia Lloyd-Jones, UNSW chief marketing officer, said: “Howatson+Company demonstrated their deep understanding of the sector, an intelligent, data led operating model treating media as a component of an integrated growth strategy, and a perfect cultural fit to the university.”

Chris Howatson, founder and chief executive officer of Howatson + Company, said: “UNSW is a top four Australian, and top 50 global university, and it’s right here on our doorstep.

“The opportunity to be part of such an accomplished team was a huge motivator from the moment we received the brief,” he added.

Sasha Smith, head of media at Howatson+Company, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with UNSW, an exceptional, value aligned partner for our team.

“We deeply admire their mission and vision and are confident that together we can accelerate their future ambitions,” she added.

Howatson + Company has made a slew of appointments to the agency over the past few months including Dom Hickey as chief strategy officer.

Richard Shaw and Jeremy Hogg also joined the agency both as executive creative directors, after leaving CHEP Network.

Ben Handberg also joined as head of PR in March, after spending five years at Mango Communications.

Among the new recruits are former CHEP Network staffers, including managing director Renee Hyde, head of production Holly Alexander, and chief data and technology officer Hoang Nguyen, who have moved up into senior positions.

At the appointments of Shaw and Hogg back in February, chief creative officer Levi Salvin said: “At Howatson+Company we have a commitment to very senior talent, on the tools. It means our clients benefit from creatives with deep experience, and the confidence to apply creativity to its most powerful effect.”
