Same show, new news. Tom Gleisner, Ed Kavalee, and Sam Pang are ready and raring to launch the 10th season of Have You Been Paying Attention? on Monday, 16 May on 10 and 10 Play On Demand.
Quizmaster Tom Gleisner said: “To reach ten seasons is a true TV milestone. For a start, it’s nine more than Pooch Perfect.”
Gleisner asked regular contestant Ed Kavalee why he thought audiences enjoyed the show so much. His answer was simple: “Because we refuse to go away. Every season is like a new variant.”
According to fellow regular contestant Sam Pang, there is another reason why people love the show: “Because by the time our show starts, they’re drunk.”
Last year, Mediaweek caught up with Tom Gleisner ahead of the 2021 launch and asked about whether the Have You Been Paying Attention? format could work as a daily shor rather than a weekly one.
“I guess you could do a daily version of HYBPA? but the show would struggle if it was a slow news week. I think a weekly hit-out suits us best. It also gives you that feeling of being asked about a story that happened several days ago where you might remember the basics but have forgotten the precise details. That’s part of our show’s challenge – and you wouldn’t get it within a 24 hour cycle,” he said”

The final Have You Been Paying Attention? of last year had 731,000 viewers. The episode featured Kitty Flanagan, Marty Sheargold, Celia Pacquola, Ed Kavalee and Sam Pang – it was the top non-news show of the night and #1 in all key demos.
