Coca-Cola inks multi-year NRL deal

Go on, name a more iconic duo.

Coca-Cola Australia has signed a three-year partnership with the National Rugby League, becoming an official partner of both the NRL Telstra Premiership and NRLW competitions.

The deal sparks a major investment in Australian sport for the brand, positioning Coca-Cola across broadcast, retail and live experiences throughout the rugby league season.

As the official non-alcoholic ready-to-drink partner, Coca-Cola’s presence will extend across key moments, including State of Origin, the Finals Series and national team sponsorships across both the NRL and NRLW.

The partnership is designed to connect the brand with fans across multiple touchpoints, from in-stadium experiences to at-home viewing.

To coincide with the launch, Coca-Cola has introduced a new 500ml NRL Superfan Edition can, alongside a series of promotions offering fans the chance to win experiences, including State of Origin Game 3 at Suncorp Stadium and NRL Grand Final tickets.

The limited-edition cans are available across major convenience and fuel retailers nationwide.

Brand and culture alignment

Martyn Ferguson, marketing director at Coca-Cola Australia, said the partnership reflects the brand’s connection with the sport.

“NRL is a huge part of Aussie culture, and it means a lot to our drinkers – just as it does to us. Whether it’s at the game, at the pub or on the couch at home, watching the footy is simply better with an icy cold Coke,” he said.

“This partnership is about celebrating that shared love of league and being part of fans’ favourite moments.”

Andrew Abdo, CEO of the NRL, said the deal reinforces the league’s commercial momentum.

“Coca‑Cola is one of the most recognisable brands in the world, and it’s great to welcome them back to the NRL.  Rugby League continues to grow right across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and beyond, and this partnership allows us to build on that momentum in new and creative ways,” he said.
