This weekend, the Australian box office made $9,944,716, down 28% from last week’s $13,865,322.

For its second week in cinemas, Warner Bros.’ The Nun II topped the box office, with the visceral demonic carnage bringing in $1.4 million, down 40% from its debut. 

Coming in next and debuting at number two was superhero flick Warner Bros.’ Blue Beetle, which took $1.1 million.

Fans then once again reunited with members of the Portokalos family in Greece for the second week of Universal’s My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. The flick brought in $1.1 million for its first weekend at the cinema, down 37%.

Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem slotted into the fourth spot for its second week in cinemas, taking $1 million, down 45%.

Before, Walt Disney’s A Haunting in Venice rounded out the top five, making its debut this week. The flick brought in just over $949k.

Falling out of the top five this weekend was Sony’s The Equaliser III, Mindblowing’s Jawan, China Lion’s Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms, Warner Bros. Barbie and Universal’s Oppenheimer.

#1 The Nun II – $1,400,847

In 1956 France, a priest is violently murdered, and Sister Irene begins to investigate. She once again comes face-to-face with a powerful evil. The film grossed $1,400,847, averaging $5,247 over 267 screens and has made $4,404,238 in Australian cinemas to date.

#2 Blue Beetle – $1,122,779

Jaime Reyes suddenly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology called the Scarab. When the Scarab chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he’s bestowed with an incredible suit of armor that’s capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle. The film grossed $1,122,779, averaging $2,970 over 378 screens.

#3 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 – $1,112,999

Toula (Nia Vardalos), along with her husband (John Corbett), her brother (Louis Mandylor) and her Aunt Voula (Andrea Martin), among others, are headed to Greece for a family reunion. The trip also gives Toula the chance to fulfil one of her father’s last wishes: to present his childhood diary to a long-lost old friend. The film grossed $1,112,999, averaging $3,235 over 344 screens and has made $3,830,487 in Australian cinemas to date.

#4 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem – $1,032,114

After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers. Their new friend, April O’Neil, helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. The all-star cast includes Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Brady Noon and Nicolas Cantu. The film grossed $1,032,114, averaging $2,745 over 376 screens and has made $3,617,329 in Australian cinemas to date.

#5. A Haunting in Venice – $949,872

In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer. The film grossed $949,872, averaging $2,794 over 340 screens.
