Boomtown

• The panel will provide insights on the role of regional media

The final two Boomtown Masterclasses, the first of which will be held tomorrow, have more than 130 registrations – with a line-up of guest speakers named.

The guest panel features Katie Gray, acquisition lead at UniSuper and Paul Wilkinson, head of investment at Spark Foundry Melbourne, along with moderator Cameron Knight, the Victorian sales manager for Seven Affiliate Sales.

Gray, who joined UniSuper on Monday to lead acquisition marketing for the recently opened industry fund, previously held senior marketing roles at iSelect, La Trobe Financial, Origin and Telstra. She led Origin LPG’s marketing when it won an MFA Award for Best Partner Initiative in 2016 (as well as a finalist in 2015) and also won the inaugural B&T Regional Media Campaign of the Year Award in 2020.

The panel will provide insights on the role of regional media in their marketing mix, case studies, learnings, and the successes they have had integrating regional media into campaigns.

Boomtown Chairman and SCA chief sales officer, Brian Gallagher, said: “Our expert panels are the highlight of Boomtown masterclasses for students and a critical factor in the success of this year’s program. We’re incredibly fortunate to have the calibre of regional media authorities once again in Katie, Paul and Cameron providing their unique perspectives on the scale, potential and effectiveness that Boomtown delivers for brands, time and time again. Based on the record number of registrations we’re getting; our October sessions are shaping up to be absolute stand-outs.”

An ‘all in’ session for the broader industry will be held on 21 October as a 90-minute webinar, following the Media Federation of Australia’s NGEN Plus Masterclass on, 14 October.

The national education initiative, which kicked off in 2020, is designed to provide media professionals with a better understanding of the regional media landscape, the opportunities, and competitive advantage for brands, along with tools to help plan and buy regional advertising.

This year’s program has been successful, offering training to nearly 260 industry executives, and exceeding attendee targets by 72%, with an average attendee score of 9.3 out of 10.

The 2022 education program will feature a mix of webinars and face-to-face training*. Boomtown will also host bespoke masterclasses for marketers and agencies, with content tailored to their specific challenges and opportunities.

Marketing expert, Gaye Steel, is again facilitating the courses, sharing her extensive knowledge with participants.

Registrations are open for the first half of 2022’s national Masterclass schedule and further panels will be announced soon.
