• Singles: Justin Bieber’s new #1, but with Major Lazer and MØ
• Albums: Human Nature back at #1 after 60 Minutes and media blitz
Justin Bieber dominated the ARIA chart at the start of the year when his single “Love Yourself” was anchored at #1 for what seemed like most of the summer. Now he is back on top again, but this time on the tune “Cold Water” from Major Lazer where Bieber is featured along with MØ. The song is from Major Lazer’s fourth album “Music is the Weapon”. This is Major Lazer’s second #1 single and is the only chart debut this week to crack the top 50.
Just short of top spot was “Paper Cuts” from Illy which in its third week on the chart climbed from #8 to #2.
The only other newcomer to the top 10 is British singer Anne–Marie who climbs higher from #12 to #10 with “Alarm”.
Into the top 50 from lower down the chart this week are:
#39 Mike Perry with “The Ocean”
#42 Jonas Blue with “Perfect Strangers”
Human Nature has scored their first #1 album in a decade since “Dancing in the Streets: The Songs of Motown” topped the chart in 2006. “Gimme Some Lovin’: Jukebox Volume 2” is their 13th album and had some great media support last week across everything from a Karl Stefanovic 60 Minutes stop at a Human Nature Las Vegas barbecue to a visit to WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda Sydney show.
It was a quiet week for new releases on the album chart too with just one other chart debut cracking the top 50 – US prog metal artists Periphery with fifth album “Periphery III – Select Difficulty” new at #8.
Back in the top 10 at #2 after nine weeks on the chart is Flume with his former #1 album “Skin”.
