Radio Ratings Survey Four resulted in a day to celebrate for the team at KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show. Coming off their best-ever breakfast ratings, the FM market leaders Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O saw their breakfast share of 12.9% in Survey 3 turn into a massive 15.5%. The big take away from the survey was that KIIS FM and The Kyle and Jackie O Show had ended the reign of 2GB’s breakfast show as the number one show in Sydney – making it the number one brekkie show across AM and FM radio. Previously helmed by Alan Jones, 2GB Breakfast is currently hosted by Ben Fordham

Currently working on Sky News, whether or not Alan Jones would return to radio has been a hotly debated topic. This morning Jones sat down with The Kyle & Jackie O Show and addressed the question.

“I’m not threatening you two with the number one spot!” said Jones. “You’ve worked too hard to have that prestige challenged so readily. Jackie, you’d never forgive me!”.

As well as confirming that he’s not going to be jumping back behind the mic for 2GB Breakfast, Jones says he is enjoying his new role at Sky News.

“With radio you have greater scope with what you’re doing, because there’s a  lot more stuff you can do. Television is a much tighter format. We are Sky News so it’s predominantly news, whereas I have a lot of other interests as well, which I used to like discussing with my audience. In a sense, once you’ve been in it for as long as I’ve been in it, part of it is still there. But I enjoy what I’m doing, it’s a good intellectual challenge.”

Jones also spoke about the current NSW lockdown, what he thinks about the handling of the Covid-19 outbreak, and getting his first vaccine.
