How is Acast performing globally, and what does it mean for the local podcast market? The company’s 2025 results point to accelerating revenue growth and rising creator payouts in Australia and New Zealand.
Acast has reported 29 per cent global net sales growth for the 12 months to December 2025, alongside its first full year of positive adjusted operating profit and cash flow. The results were released on Friday 13 February.
Net sales reached AUD$362.9 million, up from AUD$280.0 million the previous year. Organic net sales growth was 33 per cent, driven primarily by North America, where revenue increased 60 per cent year-on-year.
ANZ creator payouts surpass $56 million
Locally, Acast has now paid out more than AUD$56 million to podcast creators across Australia and New Zealand since launching in 2017. That figure is up from $44.9 million reported this time last year.
The company said the increase reflects continued growth in podcast monetisation across the region’s independent creator economy.
Acast ANZ’s creator network includes Casefile True Crime, Toni and Ryan, Alpha Blokes, We Mean Well, Hello Sport, Just The Gist, One Minute Remaining, Equity Mates and The Mitch Churi Chat Show.
Podcast listening in Australia continues to expand, with 52 per cent of Australians now listening monthly, according to the company. Acast’s Podcast Pulse report also found nearly four in five local podcast consumers both listen to and watch podcasts, highlighting demand for video-enabled formats.
Video expansion and partnerships
In January, Acast announced a global partnership with Spotify to expand video distribution and monetisation capabilities for creators. Through Spotify’s Distribution API, creators can publish and monetise video content on the platform directly from Acast.
The company has also launched a partnership with Little Dot Studios in the UK to expand its video proposition on YouTube, with plans to roll this out across additional markets later in 2026.
Henrik Isaksson, Regional Managing Director of Acast ANZ, said: “Podcasting continues to prove itself as one of the most resilient and effective channels in the Australian advertising market. The latest IAB Audio State of the Nation report shows digital audio and podcast advertising grew 17.8% year-on-year, with 87% of marketers recognising podcasts as providing strong opportunities within the creator economy.
“Surpassing AUD $56 million paid out to local creators is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. It represents real, sustainable income flowing back into the independent creator economy.
“As more Australians consume podcasts across both audio and video, we’re focused on ensuring creators can monetise wherever their audiences are. The continued growth we’re seeing – both globally and locally – shows that podcasting is no longer emerging. It’s established, scalable and delivers results for creators and advertisers alike.”
Q4 performance and profitability
In the fourth quarter, net sales rose 27 per cent year-on-year to AUD$110 million. EBITDA for the quarter reached AUD$12 million, delivering a 12 per cent margin.
For the full year, adjusted EBITDA was AUD$16.7 million, while adjusted operating profit totalled AUD$3.6 million. Cash flow from operating activities came in at AUD$8.9 million.
The company said 2025 marked its first full year with positive adjusted operating profit and cash flow, as it enters 2026 with updated financial targets including an operating profit margin of 10 per cent by 2028.
