The Seven Network has rolled out a new national campaign titled Connecting You, aimed at reinforcing the role 7NEWS plays in linking Australians with the information, people and events that shape their lives.
The campaign, which launched this week, is appearing across television, radio, digital, social and out-of-home platforms.
Rather than promoting a specific bulletin or program, Connecting You focuses on the broader relationship between viewers and the journalists they see on screen, highlighting the value of trust, relevance and local insight in how Australians consume news.
Community first
The campaign’s creative assets include television commercials, presenter vignettes, and behind-the-scenes content featuring journalists from across the country.
Viewers will see familiar faces from metro and regional bulletins, among them, Mark Ferguson, Angela Cox, Michael Usher, Chris Reason, Peter Mitchell, Rebecca Maddern, and Rosanna Mangiarelli, sharing reflections on what their work means to the communities they serve.
7NEWS network anchor Michael Usher said: “If we don’t connect with anyone watching our news or interviews, we haven’t done our jobs properly. Connecting You is so simple but so important, letting you know what it means, why it’s important, why we should care is all part of the most fundamental reason we do what we do.”
Highlighting journalism
The campaign comes at a time when public trust in news remains under scrutiny, and the role of journalism in local and national storytelling continues to evolve.
Seven’s Network Director of News and Current Affairs, Ray Kuka, said: “More than a tagline, Connecting You is a promise. It positions 7NEWS as the essential link between people and what matters most, news that affects their families, their communities and their futures.
“Our journalists live and work in the communities they report on. Connecting You honours that deep local connection, while reinforcing the national strength of a brand trusted by millions. At a time when trust, relevance and clarity matter more than ever, Connecting You reflects not just the service 7NEWS provides, but why it matters.”
National reach, local focus
With newsrooms and correspondents based in every state and territory, 7NEWS delivers coverage that ranges from international affairs to hyper-local issues.
Chief Reporter Chris Reason said: “I’ve travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometres around the world on assignment for 7NEWS, connecting Australians with the global issues that matter most. We strive to put Australians right there on the scene, whether it’s the frontline of conflict or the front row of major events. We take the risk, so you can take the journey.”
Rosanna Mangiarelli, from 7NEWS Adelaide, added: “At 7NEWS, we stand for community and connection. Everything we do is for all Australians. We give them a voice, we’ve got their backs, and we’re here to inform, support, and make life a little easier. From the heartbreak and the hope, it’s a rollercoaster we ride together.”
Ongoing investment
The Connecting You campaign also aligns with Seven’s ongoing investment in news content across platforms. 7NEWS remains Australia’s most-watched news service, delivering breaking news and analysis to audiences across metro and regional areas.
Peter Mitchell, long-time presenter at 7NEWS Melbourne, said: “In all the decades I’ve been associated with 7NEWS, our priority has really never changed. We are here to keep our local community informed about what is going on around them. That is the essence of news. That is our bread and butter. Around the clock, we never underestimate the importance of delivering the news that matters.”
