• Making it Australia shed upwards of 70,000 people in its second and third episode

Making It Australia is set to be moved from its current 7:30pm Thursday / Friday slot to 6pm Saturdays on 10 and 10Play, as reported by TV Tonight. The move comes as a result of low ratings numbers as the show enters its third week on air.

After launching with 474,000 viewers Making it Australia shed upwards of 70,000 people in its second and third episode, and ultimately hit a low in its most recent episode – dipping below the 300,000 mark to bring in 289,000 viewers for its fifth episode.

For comparison, in the same 7:30pm timeslot last night, The Block had 902,000 on Nine and SAS Australia brought in 643,000 viewers for Seven.

Previous episode figures for Making It Australia are:

September 15th (Launch): 474,000
September 16th: 401,000
September 22nd: 325,000
September 23rd: 347,000
September 29th: 289,000

The most recent episode bid farewell to Robert, whose makeup light fixture didn’t have the finishing touches to secure his place in the competition.

The Makers were challenged with repurposing old and discarded items into functional pieces of furniture.

Rehana, repurposed an old dresser into a monster-over-the-bed bedhead for her son and was awarded her second patch of the season.

Robert turned an old piano into a dresser and makeup table for his great grandmother, who taught herself how to play the piano. While the judges loved the sentiment behind his piece, the finishing touches weren’t up to Robert’s usual standard, and he was sent home.

Each episode focuses on a theme that draws its inspiration from popular trends in crafting and DIY. The show’s Makers must complete two challenges per episode, with the winner earning a coveted award honouring their victory: a patch.

In the end, only one hopeful will have crafted and DIY’d enough to earn the title of Master Maker and win the prize of $100,000.
