Two trusted indies become one as Pearman acquires MediaSmiths

No line-up changes as all The Smiths join Pearman

One of Australia’s largest independent media agencies, Pearman (est 1996), has acquired established media agency MediaSmiths to offer a comprehensive suite of media and advertising services to clients.

“MediaSmiths has built a strong business over the past 15 years with terrific clients, and I have worked with Angela and Mike Smith for many years, including on the board of the Independent Media Agencies of Australia (IMAA),” said Dominic Pearman announcing the acquisition.

“There is a strong synergy between both companies, which share the same ethos of nurturing transparent relationships,” added the Pearman managing director.

I’m delighted to welcome the entire MediaSmiths team to join the Pearman family, which will ensure continuity of service for MediaSmiths’ clients and further expand Pearman’s resources and expertise in media strategy, planning, buying, campaign management, digital marketing, data analysis and more,” he continued.

Angela Smith, managing director of MediaSmiths, said: “Our two companies have been working together for many years with a shared purpose and values. Pearman has been a valuable partner of ours and this is a fantastic opportunity for our clients who will continue to work with the same MediaSmiths staff, but enjoy greater access to resources such as Roy Morgan, OzTAM, attribution modelling, and a bespoke digital dashboard.”

Pearman was the founding chairman of the IMAA and said at the time of launch in February 2020:

“One quarter, or more than $2.5 billion in advertising expenditure, is represented by Australia’s independent media agencies. Collectively, we act for some of Australia’s best-known brands and our agencies are led by industry experts and leaders.

“There are many benefits for advertisers to work with independent media agencies, one of the most important being the depth and longevity of experience they provide and staff consistency and stability. We are business owners working within the business. The IMAA will provide the independent sector with a louder, unified voice to educate the industry and demonstrate the great work we do and help grow the Australian economy.”

Both Pearman and MediaSmiths were foundation IMAA members.
