We went road trippin’ with Nine’s Travel Guides as they explored NSW and Victoria for some quirky country living with a whopping  1,053,000 tuning in, lifting 23%. 

Seven’s Home and Away came in next, with 944,000 watching as Justin and Leah prepared for an emotional farewell and Marilyn’s crusade drew unwanted attention, up 22%. Jim Jefferies The 1% Club drew in 888,000, lifting by 17%.

SBS’s Alone Australia was up a massive 166%, bringing in 841,000 viewers as the final three battled the elements and reached the four-week mark.

Finally, lifting by 29% rise was 10’s MasterChef with 711,000 tuning in to see former contestants Sashi Cheliah and Matt Sinclair acting as team captains in a small-scall Service Challenge. The Blue Team were victorious with their Prawns with Cucumber Raita entree and outstanding Fish Curry with Cumin Rice main.

Nine has won Thursday night with a primary share of 19.7% and a network share of 27.4%. 10Peach has won multi channels with a 3.2% share.

Nine’s A Current Affair (603,000) reported on the senior constable who allegedly tased 95-year-old dementia patient Clare Nowland who has now been charged with three offences, including recklessly causing grievous bodily harm. It has now been announced that Nowland passed away just after 7 pm on Wednesday, May 24 with NSW Police confirming her death in a short statement expressing “great sadness” for her family’s loss. The program also featured single mum Kamisha who has raised her daughter in Australia since birth. The teenager relies on our nation’s healthcare but an expired visa has left the young mum with an impossible choice. Then, 560,000 viewers joined our avid explorers in New Zealand on Travel Guides. Our guides crossed the ditch for an epic North Island road trip, but before they hit the road, they stopped by Auckland, New Zealand’s biggest and coolest city. From throwing themselves off sky-high buildings to rafting the world’s tallest waterfall, they undertook some of our neighbouring country’s most electrifying activities!

487,000 began their evening in Summer Bay with Seven’s Home and Away as Xander and Kate took comfort in each other while Mali and Rose’s siblings pushed them back together. There was also heartbreak as Theo and Kirby called time on their relationship. Then, 521,000 joined host Jim Jefferies for more quizzical fun on The 1% Club, followed by two more episodes of US drama Accused. 216,000 watched the first instalment where a high school teacher put his reputation in jeopardy by helping a student in need. The second episode drew in 130,000 and featured a white nationalist who ploughed his car into a peaceful demonstration. After getting away, a survivor took justice into her own hands.

450,000 watched ABC’s 7.30 explored new details about the care home where Nowland was tasered and looked at the “money mules” being used to scam hundreds of thousands of dollars from bank accounts. Then, 239,000 watched the premiere of the Aussie dramedy In Limbo starring Bob Morley and Ryan Corr. The first episode followed Charlie (Corr), who was rocked by grief when his best friend, Nate (Morley), dies; however, when Nate returned as a ghost trapped in limbo, he needed Charlie’s help to break free.

On 10, The Project’s (191,000 6:30pm / 298,000 7pm) Georgie Tunny interviewed Irish popstar Niall Horan who revealed his close ties to Melbourne and spoke about his upcoming tour. The panel also chatted to Adriana Ocampo, who tried to avoid Jetstar’s baggage fee by wearing an extra 5kgs of clothes. Even after her efforts, she was slapped with a $62 fee. The team also welcomed Julian Assange’s wife, Stella Assange via satellite, who greeted hundreds of supporters at a Sydney rally pushing for the release of the Wikileaks founder. Then, 365,000 stayed on for MasterChef and it was the biggest Service Challenge the series had ever seen! Serving thousands of patrons at Grazeland in Spottswood, the contestants had five hours to prep two dishes inspired by Surf and Turf. The Turquoise team of AdiCath, Robbie, PhilDeclanJessicaGrace and Amy, were victorious with their delicious Thai Beef Salad and Thai Curry with Barramundi, earning them a spot in Thursday’s Immunity grab.

The highest rating non-news show on SBS was Alone Australia. Rewilding facilitator Gina Chick was crowned the winner after surviving 67 days in the remote wilds of Western Tasmania / lutruwita. The 52-year-old outlasted nine other participants to win $250,000 during the season finale. 245,000 tuned in to see Chick smash two global franchise records. Chick and runner-up Michael Atkinson’s one-to-one stand-off was the longest ever and at the age of 52, Chick snatched the crown off season two Alone US winner David McIntyre to become the oldest contestant to ever win any series. Amazing!
