TV Ratings August 15, 2021: The Voice continues to blow away the competition with another amazing number

The AFL had a strong afternoon crowd of 459,000 tuning in. 210,000 viewers were from Melbourne, while 164,000 were from Perth.

On The Voice, 1.226m tuned in as four artists inspired all four coaches to turn their chairs, but the highlight was lawnmower man Mick, who won the hearts of the coaches and, after a shock proposal, left with a new fiancé.

Nick Kyrgios’ sister Halimah Kyrgios also took to the stage, and went through to the next phase of the competition.

This continues an amazing run for The Voice since it joined its new home on Seven. Every episode has broken the 1m mark for metro viewers so far.

Homicide: With Ron Iddles then followed with 576,000 as the episode focused on the case of Gary Adams. The show was produced by was produced by CJZ.

Nine

On Nine, the NRL had 260,000 viewers as the Newcastle Knights narrowly defeated the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 16-14. The Sharks haven’t beaten the Knights now since 2018. The match had 159,000 Sydney viewers.

On The Block, despite finishing in record time, Mitch and Mark‘s pared-back guest bedroom got panned by judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker. It was better news for Ronnie and Georgia who impressed with their attention to detail and a dramatically high ceiling.

The episode had 758,000 viewers which was up on last Sunday’s launch of 747,000. This was the highest rating episode of the show in 2021.

60 Minutes then had 643,000 as the show presented a major investigation led by Nick McKenzie that infiltrated and exposed the world of hatred inside the National Socialist Network, the largest neo-Nazi organisation in the country.  The investigation was done in conjunction with The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.

The Sunday Project had 342,000 (6:30pm) and 447,000 (7:00pm) as the show covered the extra 1 million doses of Pfizer coming to Australia and also spoke to Barbra Streisand

On Survivor, 664,000 watched as the show kicked it up another gear with the Tribal Merge, as the final 13 contestants now made up the Fire Tribe. Battle for control of the tribe kicked off almost immediately with Emmet and Hayley leading the opposing sides. While Emmet was able to get the numbers, Hayley had a mole on in the inside in George as the political operative provided her with vital information. The information allowed Hayley to correctly play her immunity idol for Laura and send Kez home with an idol in her pocket.

The episode was #1 in the 16-39 demographic and was up on last Sunday’s 609,000.

ABC

Joanna Lumley’s Britain took 613,000 viewers from the Outer Hebrides to Eilean Donan Castle, the location for her first episode of The New Avengers, then she visited the Dark Hedges, made famous in Game of Thrones.

This was followed by the hotly anticipated debut of the ABC’s new Aussie drama The Newsreader which brought in 552,000 viewers. The show is lead by acclaimed actors Sam Reid and Anna Torv and covers an ambitious reporter who joins forces with a notoriously ‘difficult’ newsreader to take on a 1986 newsroom.

The top non-news show on SBS was an episode of Roman Megastructures which had 123,000 viewers.
